He is a good role model because he won 8 gold medals and he did that by practicing and he wanted to win really badly and shows kids that if you practice and want it badly you can achieve it.

Because not only did he break all those records and win all those gold medals, but he grew up with ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder). So many kids that have this can look up to Michael Phelps and know that nothing is impossible and they can accomplish whatever they want as long as they work hard.
